Meet Our Tutors

Paul Charlton

Manager, Owner

A highly experienced guitar tutor, Paul began teaching in 1986 across Newton-Le-Willows, St. Helens and Warrington. He quickly gained a reputation for providing first-class tuition and became renowned for his ability to teach an extensive variety of styles, including classical, acoustic and
electric. Paul’s philosophy of personalised tuition is the ideal way to learn an instrument.

Chris Brown

Drums

One of the North West’s most renowned percussionists, Chris has many years experience playing and teaching drums. His friendly and professional nature allows him to personalise an approach to helping pupils quickly progress on the instrument. Throughout his time at The Music Rooms, he has helped students excel in examinations and many have cited his patience and sense of humour as a key reason for their success.

Tony Abbott

Guitar, Bass Guitar

Tony possesses Grade 8 in ABRSM and RockSchool guitar, with a total of twenty years experience in teaching. He is a knowledgable all-rounder and his versatility enables him to teach all styles of acoustic, electric and bass guitar; as well as musical theory. His versatility makes him a highly valued member of our team here at The Music Rooms.

Dave Mannion

Guitar, Bass Guitar, Flute

With over twenty years playing experience, Dave has toured the UK extensively and played numerous prestigious venues. He brings a wealth of knowledge to his lessons and is proficient in many styles; from blues, jazz, rock and metal, to classical and acoustic. Dave’s students praise his patient and professional teaching styles, as well as his ability to motivate students of all ages to pursue their musical goals.

Heather is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, having studied oboe as part of a broad academic music programme with international specialists. Heather has performed in a variety of concerts with ensembles during her studies, including professional shows with the BBC Philharmonic and Halle Orchestras. She has taught in a range of schools across Cheshire and prides herself on inspiring people of all ages to be involved in music.

Jason Lam

Piano, Violin

Jason is an experienced pianist who enjoys all aspects of performance including solo, ensemble and accompaniment, and has performed across major venues in Manchester and around the UK. He is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where he obtained his Bachelor and Masters Degrees, as well as a Licentiate of the ABRSM. During his studies he has won prizes, sponsorships and competitions in piano playing. Jason has taught students across all ages and levels.
